Gauge symmetry of unimodular gravity in Hamiltonian formalism

چکیده

We work out the description of gauge symmetry unimodular gravity in constrained Hamiltonian formalism. In particular, we demonstrate how transversality conditions restricting diffeomorphism parameters emerge from algebra constraints. The alternative form is long known as parametrizing volume preserving diffeomorphisms by unrestricted two-forms instead transverse vector fields. This reducible. this (UG) symmetry. Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin--Batalin-Fradkin-Vilkovisky (BFV-BRST) formalism constructed for both forms UG These two BRST complexes have a subtle inequivalence: Their cohomology groups are not isomorphic. first complex, which related to restricted parameters, cosmological constant does correspond any nontrivial cocycle, while complex it does. wording physics, means $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}$ fixed parameter defined field asymptotics rather than physical observable standpoint complex. second views with initial data.

Finite dimensional Hamiltonian formalism for gauge and field theories

We discuss in this paper the canonical structure of classical field theory in finite dimensions within the pataplectic Hamiltonian formulation, where we put forward the role of Legendre correspondance. We define the generalized Poisson p-brackets which are the analogues of the Poisson bracket on forms. We formulate the equations of motion of forms in terms of p-brackets. As illustration of our ...

Troubles for Unimodular Gravity

We compute the contribution of various gravitational instantons to the path integral in the standard formulation of unimodular gravity, an alternative theory of gravity where the determinant of the metric is not dynamical. Following similar computations in General Relativity, we derive the entropy/area ratio for cosmological and black hole horizons, finding in general disagreement with General ...

Is Barbero’s Hamiltonian formulation a Gauge Theory of Lorentzian Gravity?

This letter is a critique of Barbero’s constrained Hamiltonian formulation of General Relativity on which current work in Loop Quantum Gravity is based. We show that if one tries to interpret Barbero’s real SO(3) connection as a space–time gauge field, the theory is not diffeomorphism invariant. In this respect, Barbero’s connection is quite different from Ashtekar’s, which does admit a space–t...

Gauge Symmetry and Localized Gravity in M Theory

We discuss the possibility of having gravity “localized” in dimension d in a system where gauge bosons propagate in dimension d+1. In such a circumstance—depending on the rate of falloff of the field strengths in d dimensions—one might expect the gauge symmetry in d+1 dimensions to behave like a global symmetry in d dimensions, despite the presence of gravity. Naive extrapolation of warped long...

Spinor algebra transformations as gauge symmetry : limit to Einstein gravity

We construct a Lagrangian of Weyl spinors and gauge fields, which is invariant under the action of equivalent local transformations on the spinor algebra representations. A model of vacuum with a nontrivial gauge strength-tensor setting a scale is suggested, so that the leading approximation at low energies is described by the Einstein–Hilbert Lagrangian of gravity. We consider a mechanism for ...
